キターーーーー! Anime Festival Asia 2008!

Animal Festival Asia 2008 is the first of its kind in Singapore. Held at the Suntec Convention Centre, it promises to be an interesting event, according to Dark Mirage who attended the official press conference.

I think I’ll reserve judgement despite the fact I’ve yet to attend a single anime convention anywhere in this freaking globe. Since it’s backed up by I-Promo, Dentsu’s Singapore operations (see D.Gray-man ending credits if you’re wondering who they are), and sponsored by Bandai, I only hope for some modicum of decency in the event. I don’t want the first anime convention I attend to be a total washout.

In addition, there are quite a number of juicy rumours that some big names in anime will be heading our way. Is it too much to want to see the voice behind Suou Tamaki (Ouran), Yagami Light (Death Note) and Death the Kid (Soul Eater) i.e. Miyano Mamoru in the flesh? I mean, really?

I want to see him. In a less effeminate get-up. (;_;)

Figurine enthusiasts can look forward to Gundam Plamos and other figures as well. Bring it on. I’m heading there.

Here’s the official AFA2008 website. 22-23 November 2008 @ Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Halls 404 and 405. Tickets go for $5 for a single day or $8 for two days, children under 6 enter free.

ScribeFire for Mozilla Firefox

It’s not often I decide to do a review (short or otherwise) for anything technical, but ScribeFire for Mozilla Firefox has certainly impressed me sufficiently to get these lazy fingers going.

ScribeFire is essentially a blogging extension for the brilliant browser, Firefox. I’m using Firefox 3 at the moment and it certainly works brilliantly. The moment you click the orange notepad and pen icon that resides on the status bar after you’ve installed the extension, it pops right up over the bottom half of your browser screen. This means that you can read whatever it is you’re blogging about at the same time. More importantly, you can move through multiple tabs without ever leaving ScribeFire.

Since I’m using the Wordpress blogging platform, logging into my blog via ScribeFire means that I’ve got added functionality on the right, including a list of recent entries, categories (and tags) and other blog post options, such as trackback pings. I’m not entirely sure what else the extension has to offer for other platforms, but I’m fairly certain it works well.

Additional fun functionality include inserting images and YouTube videos into the post and sharing webpages in other social sites such as Facebook (a plus for me!) and Digg.

From the ScribeFire website:

ScribeFire currently supports the following services:

The currently supported blogging platforms are:

If you’re a seasoned blogger or just love sharing sites, this Firefox extension is for you. And if you’re not using Firefox… shame on you! (>_-)

Contemplating going public

Published by 湯ちゃん under dailies 毎日

It’s difficult trying to hide one’s identity on the internet, especially when it comes to blogs. I suppose as long as I’ve said nothing incriminating, I’m relatively safe. I mean, Management has been up in arms (in general) regarding responsible blogging (which I do completely agree with).

Perhaps I’m more reserved, less likely due to possible rants (I haven’t really had a real rant in a while anyway), but rather… pretty much everyone will know I’m a mild otaku. That sends me cringing, since there are those who think that anime is a waste of time.

A legitimate hobby and tool of procrastination, that’s what I say it is!

So should I?

Note: I’ve also installed Twitter so you can follow what I’m doing on a regular basis. May I never incriminate myself (since my identity is pretty much exposed after this) through irresponsible Twit-ter. (>_<;)
